Sometimes the most interesting things happen in your kitchen when you try something new….
Case in point are these Steamed Green Beans with Parm and Pine (Nuts).
After picking up a bag of them at the store the other day, I wanted to dress them up but wanted something new and flavourful.
I always tend to have frozen green beans on hand but these looked so good fresh in the store, I had to pick them up.
When I was deciding on how to prepare them, I dug deep.
Into my cupboards, that is.
And what did I find there?
Pine nuts in the cupboard from a basil pesto I made in the summer and shaved parmesan cheese in the fridge and of course, olive oil and fresh pepper.
I toasted the pine nuts to bring out their flavour then topped the steamed green beans with them, sprinkled some of shaved parm on top, drizzled with olive oil and topped with fresh pepper!
I had like half a plate of them with my lunch the other day 🙂
If you’re looking for a great main dish to serve these guys with, check out this recipe for Grilled Flank Steak with Roasted Tomato Pesto.
It is simply ahhhh-mazing.
Now, it’s a teeny bit more complicated then I like when it comes to a recipe but great for a weekend supper – and it was actually my hubby who discovered this one 🙂
In fact, I think Grilled Flank Steak with Roasted Tomato Pesto should be on the menu this weekend!
