Sparkling Apple Cider Sangria

Sparkling Apple Cider Sangria is a refreshing and delightful cocktail perfect for any occasion. This bubbly and fruity drink combines the crisp flavor of apple cider with the sweetness of fruit and the effervescence of sparkling wine.

Ingredients

  • 1 granny smith apple cored and diced into 1″ pieces
  • 1 red delicious apple cored and diced into 1″ pieces
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • teaspoon allspice
  • cinnamon sticks for in the pitcher sangria and for garnish
  • 1 cup unsweetened apple cider
  • 1 bottle of Riesling or Pinot Grigio
  • ½ bottle of Sparkling Wine or Brut Champagne chilled
  • ¼ cup cinnamon sugar for an optional rim, garnish
  • Honey or maple syrup to taste if desired for sweetnesss

Instructions

  • Add diced apples, cranberries, nutmeg, allspice and a cinnamon stick to a large pitcher.
  • Pour in 1 cup apple cider and the bottle of Riesling or Pinot Grigio into the pitcher and stir to combine.
  • Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and allow it to sit for a minimum of 6 hours but no more than 24 hours.
  • Before serving, add the Brut Champagne or Sparkling Wine into the pitcher, stir together and serve with an optional cinnamon sugar rim.

Notes

If the apples become brown or soft from sitting in the fridge, strain the apples out of the pitcher and add fresh apples before adding in the champagne or sparkling wine.
If you need a little more sweetness, you can drizzle in some maple syrup, honey or splash of ginger ale into the pitcher with the fruit if desired. 
Pomegranate seeds can be used in place of fresh cranberries if desired.
