Burgers in a cast iron skillet and oven

Who says you need a grill? You can make delicious homemade cast iron pan burgers that start in the skillet and get finished in the oven!

Why cast iron? Cooking hamburgers in a cast iron pan first will sear the outside of the patty, locking in flavour!

Finishing them in the oven keeps the juices and flavour in the burger!🍔 Here's the step-by-step way to do it right:

lean ground beef

paprika

cumin

garlic

kosher salt

Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees F.

STEP 1

Combine all spices into a large bowl and mix thoroughly into lean ground beef.

STEP 2

Form beef into a loose ball shape with your hands - about ⅓ cup of ground beef per hamburger patty.

STEP 3

Place on a plate and press down into burger-shaped rounds.

STEP 4

Place the patties in the fridge for about 10 minutes. Heat up the cast iron pan to medium-high heat with some oil.

STEP 6

 Cook the burgers for ~3 minutes per side. Finish burgers in the oven for ~5 minutes. Serve with all the fixings!
