💃Variations
If you want to change it up, a couple great additions to this Greek seasoning mixture are dried parsley, dried rosemary, or dried thyme.
I tried adding dried parsley but I found it added zero flavour because it was drowned out by the other herbs.
But totally up to you if you want to add it in!
If you want to try out any changes, I would just add a tablespoon of the herb and give it a go😄.
🥶Storage and Freezing
Keep this Greek seasoning blend in an air tight container. And if you have them, a small container is better.
The less air that's in there, the more fresh and flavourful your seasoning blend will stay😄
Be sure to store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture to maintain its punchy flavour. ie, do NOT store it above the stove, k? It's too hot and / or moist up there.
You can freeze homemade Greek seasoning blend to help it last longer too.
Freezing is a great way to preserve the flavor and aroma of spices, especially if you make large batches of seasoning blends.
To freeze your Greek seasoning blend, simply transfer it to an airtight container or a freezer bag and make sure to remove as much air as possible before sealing it. Label the container with the date and store it in the freezer for up to 6 months.
When you're ready to use your frozen Greek seasoning blend, just take it out of the freezer and it warm up at room temperature for about 30 minutes before using it.
You can also use it right from the freezer, but there is some moisture that forms during the thawing process can affect the texture of the Greek spice blend so best to use it fresh.
